LANDSCAPING with MUSHROOMS presented by TRADD COTTER near WEAVERVILLE

Friday evening (optional) plus Saturday morning workshop at Sheila Dunn's enchanting home near Weaverville where will show you how to create an edible landscape on your lawn, garden or forest, guaranteed easier than growing tomatoes and peppers. Fee: $50.00.
Tradd Cotter (www.mushroommountain.com) will teach attendees how to prepare outdoor mushroom beds on wood chips, cardboard or compost using stropharia, blewitt, and morel mushrooms. For those with a vegetable or flower garden, Tradd will discuss intercropping with mushroom species and wheat bale gardening techniques. Attendees may order spawn to take home at a discounted rate ($20.00 each species) before the workshop.
SCHEDULE
May 1, Friday evening (optional), any time after 6:00 p.m.
Casual foray in the woods (or cocktails on the gazebo), followed by an outdoor slideshow/lecture around the bonfire with Tradd and Olga. Camping on the first floor, outdoor decks, gazebo, or forest is available. Coffee and continental breakfast offered before Saturday's workshop.
May 2, Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - noon.
9:00: Mushroom Life Cycle.
Tradd will discuss the relationships between mushrooms, plants, and forest ecology. He will touch on bioremediation and recycling using mushrooms.
10:00: Wood Chip and Compost Cultivation.
How to prepare an outdoor mushroom bed made of wood chips, cardboard or compost. Species covered: King Stropharia, Blewit, and Morels.
11:00: Gardening with Mushrooms. Intercropping vegetable and herbs with mushroom species, and wheat bale gardening techniques.
12:00: End of Workshop.
Attendees may purchase spawn, books, and other mushroom related giftware before embarking on their new mushroom adventures . . . . . Now, wouldn't it be nice to walk out your back door and pick mushrooms for dinner?
