September 14, 2008

Weather: Very little rain for the last 2 weeks, though the lake area must have received rain since the ground was very moist.  Warm, dry day.

Habitat: wooded trails, surrounding lake

Attendees: 30 people, which includes 4 new members.  5 well behaved dogs. Arnie Cremer, Nancy and Mike Byer,  Barry and Jackie Schieb, , Kris Fox, Gretchen Nacleno, Hamilton and Renee Williams, Lei Han, Jin Bao Han, Lorraine Walsh, Gao Xiung Am, Charlotte Caplan, Helga Barden, Mary Jo Kirtley, Linda Marchant, Chi-Sing Chang, Debbie Woodruff, Ginger Fisher

Comments: Our general area has experienced an unusually dry spring and summer, resulting in fewer varieties of fungi than usual.  However  Lake Powhatan seemed to have received rain – the area was loaded with boletes and amanitas, etc.   29 fungi were identified.
